Footage captured at Yarkon Park on Wednesday shows victims' families, friends and other attendees observing a moment of silence in memory of those killed on October 7 and during the ensuing war.
Speaking at the family-led ceremony, Yakir called for those killed on 'Black Saturday' to be remembered, while urging Israelis to support survivors and those affected by the war.
"May the fallen of Black Saturday remain etched in Israel's heart for generations to come. Let us embrace the living, the survivors of the inferno and the atrocities," Yakir said.
He also remembered children who lived through the attack, as well as the wounded, orphans, widows and widowers, and families who lost loved ones.
"The children who grew up under the shadow of that fear and were caught in the inferno as it erupted; the wounded, women and men, in body and spirit; the orphans, the widows and widowers, and all who have known bereavement," he noted.
"The refugees of war, the thousands of Israeli communities forced to flee their homes, leaving ruins in their wake," he added.
Family members also addressed the ceremony, with musical performances and other commemorative events honouring the victims.

Footage shows El-Sisi being greeted by Lee at an official welcoming ceremony, with military honour guards lining a red carpet and displaying national flags. The two leaders later held bilateral talks with their delegations before addressing a joint press conference.
El-Sisi's three-day visit, which began on Wednesday, marks his first state visit to South Korea since 2016 and the first leg of his Asian tour, following the leaders' previous meeting in Egypt last November.
Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure and supply chains, alongside efforts to strengthen people-to-people exchanges. Regional developments and broader international issues were also on the agenda.
The presidential office said the visit was expected to provide fresh momentum for relations between the two countries.
"We expect President El-Sisi's state visit to serve as an important opportunity to develop South Korea-Egypt ties into a strategic partnership and further strengthen our country's cooperation with Africa and the Middle East," presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung said ahead of the visit."

<media:keywords>ruptly</media:keywords>
'You used the F-word!' 'You'll hear from my lawyer!' - Bundestag gets 'NAZ-TI' as CDU, Left clash over Israel and THIRD REICH

"German MPs traded accusations over antisemitism and genocide in a heated Bundestag exchange on Wednesday, with Left Party MP Cansin Kokturk threatening legal action after senior CDU lawmaker Jurgen Hardt accused her of promoting an 'anti-Israel' and 'antisemitic' message.
AfD MP Beatrix von Storch then joined the clash, attacking Kokturk over a video in which she allegedly said 'f**k the genocidal apartheid state of Israel' and 'anyone who disagrees'.
The confrontation erupted during a parliamentary debate marking three years since the October 7 attacks on southern Israel.
Hardt accused Kokturk of posting a video online carrying an 'anti-Israel' and 'antisemitic' message, providing "moral justification for all those who say that the State of Israel must be destroyed."
"She calls the State of Israel this genocidal apartheid state," Hardt told parliament. "In history only one state that was a genocidal apartheid state, and that was the Nazis' Third Reich here in Germany and in the occupied territories, where Jews were persecuted and exterminated."
"Ms Kokturk is thus doing exactly the work of radical extremists on both sides, thereby undermining Germany's interests and our constitutional mandate to work together in the service of peace in the world," he added, before calling on the Left Party to sever ties with her.
Kokturk hit back, rejecting the accusation.
"You do not mention the Israeli government's genocide against the Palestinians even once. And that is where the dialogue ends for me," she said.
"I reject your serious accusations that I am antisemitic and I find it truly, truly appalling that you would equate me with the AfD. I think you should be ashamed of yourselves for that - and ultimately you will be hearing from my lawyer," Kokturk added.
Von Storch then targeted Kokturk over the language used in the video, accusing her of deliberately stoking hostility towards Israel.
"Kokturk walked through Bochum deliberately stoking hatred of Israel - I would like to quote her words even more explicitly, but I will only spell them out because they are so filthy. They're too filthy for me to utter," von Storch said.
"She spoke of the word F-I-C-K-T - 'fuck' - the genocidal apartheid state of Israel. 'Free Palestine until the last breath,' and then F-I-C-K-T once again: anyone who disagrees with us," she added.
The exchange came exactly three years after the Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed around 1,200 people and saw 251 people taken hostage.
Israel launched its military offensive in Gaza following the attacks. More than 74,000 Palestinians have since been killed, according to Gaza's Health Ministry."

<media:keywords>ruptly</media:keywords>
'Africa is the land of opportunities' - Continent launches FIRST-EVER AU-backed credit rating agency in push for financial sovereignty

'Africa is the land of opportunities' - Continent launches FIRST-EVER AU-backed credit rating agency in push for financial sovereignty

"Africa launched its first-ever AU-backed continental credit rating agency in Mauritius on Wednesday, marking a milestone in a decades-long push for greater financial independence and a stronger African voice in how the continent's economies are assessed.
Launched under the auspices of the African Union in Port Louis, the African Credit Rating Agency (AfCRA) aims to provide assessments of African economies, attract investment and strengthen the continent's financial expertise.
"How can we reach African financial sovereignty?" African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf asked during the launch.
"AfCRA will not only change the perception of our economies, but it will also give a new impetus to investors looking for opportunities. And Africa is the land of opportunities," he stressed.
Youssouf hailed the launch as a historic turning point, saying, "This event is indeed a watershed moment in the economic history of our continent."
But he cautioned against expectations of immediate financial relief.
"A rating agency will certainly not significantly reduce the cost of capital in the near future. There is a need for more holistic reforms in global markets," he warned.
Developed through consultations led by the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), AfCRA forms part of efforts to strengthen Africa's financial institutions and reduce reliance on external assessments.
African governments have long argued that international credit ratings can overstate risk and contribute to higher borrowing costs. AfCRA is designed to bring more African data and context into credit assessments while operating independently of governments."

<media:keywords>ruptly</media:keywords>
Netanyahu gets ROASTED! - Mexican protesters TORCH Israeli PM pinata outside embassy on Gaza war anniversary

Netanyahu gets ROASTED! - Mexican protesters TORCH Israeli PM pinata outside embassy on Gaza war anniversary

"Pro-Palestinian protesters set fire to a pinata depicting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu outside the Israeli Embassy in Mexico City on Wednesday, marking three years since Israel launched its war in Gaza.
Footage shows demonstrators burning the Netanyahu effigy and a football bearing the logos of companies accused of supporting the Israeli military.
"Today, we commemorate three years since the escalation of the genocide that the Palestinian people are living in the Gaza Strip and the ethnic displacement, apartheid and ethnic cleansing of all the Palestinian people," said Ximena Hernandez, a member of Global Movement to Gaza.
"Each of us has our own struggles in our territories, and in some way Zionism runs through them too. So it is part not only of Zionism, but of a larger system, and it is something the world is realising," she added.
Gabriela, a Mexico City university representative, slammed the US-backed Gaza peace plan, accusing Washington and Israel of using it to justify further attacks.
"It has been nothing but a farce, and the only thing it has served for is as an instrument to legitimise this barbarity. Because the bombings, the massacres, and the expansion of illegal settlements continue. The terror sweeping West Asia has a first and last name: the Zionist State of Israel and the US empire," Gabriela said.
"We live the consequences of this struggle here in Latin America, where we see how the advance of the far right, as part of the colonialist agenda of Yankee imperialism, and Zionism as a project of the global elite, are closely tied to this offensive," she continued.
The October 7 attack in 2023 killed around 1,200 people and saw 251 taken hostage, according to Israeli authorities.
Israel's subsequent military campaign has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians in Gaza, according to local health authorities, and left much of the territory in ruins.
Meanwhile, Israel heads to the polls on October 27 for its first parliamentary election since the attacks. Netanyahu faces a major challenge from former military chief Gadi Eisenkot, with polls suggesting neither side is assured of a majority."

<media:keywords>ruptly</media:keywords>
Peace, security, stability in our countries guarantee successful future development - Azerbaijani pres meets Central Asian leaders in Turkmenistan

Peace, security, stability in our countries guarantee successful future development - Azerbaijani pres meets Central Asian leaders in Turkmenistan

"*TO FOLLOW*"

<media:keywords>ruptly</media:keywords>
Kick-off in Kolkata! - Russia's women gear up for FIFA friendly showdown against India

Kick-off in Kolkata! - Russia's women gear up for FIFA friendly showdown against India

"India's women footballers are gearing up for a tough showdown with Russia in Kolkata, where they will face a team ranked 42 places above them and one they have never managed to beat.
The two sides wrapped up their final training sessions at Kishore Bharati Krirangan stadium on Wednesday, October 7, ahead of Thursday's opening friendly. It will be the first time India's women's national team has played an international match in Kolkata.
Footage shows players from both teams running through drills, passing exercises and ball work on the pitch under the blazing sun, putting in their final preparations before the clash.
India, ranked 69th in the world, face a Russian side sitting 27th. The visitors have won both previous meetings without conceding a goal, thrashing India 8-0 in 2021 before claiming a 2-0 victory in 2025.
But India's young squad, with an average age of just 23, will be hoping to turn the tables on home soil.
Head coach Crispin Chettri has been putting his players through their paces in Kolkata since September 18. His side arrive as six-time South Asian champions after lifting the SAFF Women's Championship trophy in June.
Russia, meanwhile, have had little time to settle. Head coach Yuri Krasnozhan and his squad landed in Kolkata on Tuesday evening, leaving them just one full day to train before kick-off.
Krasnozhan acknowledged the short preparation time and the unfamiliar conditions, with the visitors adjusting to Kolkata's heat after travelling from a much cooler Russia.
Defender Veronika Kuropatkina revealed that the visitors had singled out two Indian players during their pre-match analysis and were expecting a difficult contest despite their superior ranking.
"We had a team meeting and watched two of your best players, numbers 10 and 16. Your striker is very tall and physically strong, but I heard she'll miss tomorrow. That's a shame, because we wanted to compete against her. The whole Indian team is good, though, and I know it will be a very hard game," Kuropatkina said.
India will be without several players because of club commitments, including footballers involved with East Bengal and the AFC Women's Champions League.
The two matches, scheduled for October 8 and 11, will kick off at 18:00 local time, with free entry for supporters."

<media:keywords>ruptly</media:keywords>
'Govt is responsible!' - Israeli families snub state event for alternative October 7 memorial as Netanyahu faces security scrutiny ahead of polls

'Govt is responsible!' - Israeli families snub state event for alternative October 7 memorial as Netanyahu faces security scrutiny ahead of polls

"Families and loved ones of those killed in the October 7 attack gathered at Tel Aviv's Yarkon Park on Wednesday for a memorial marking three years since the attack.
Footage shows attendees embracing, holding photographs of victims and watching musical performances, with some visibly emotional.
Attendee Elad questioned the government's responsibility for the security failures that allowed the attacks to happen.
"I think the government is the authority that is responsible for managing the entire system, which is called Israel. I don't think the army or the police have the whole responsibility," Elad said.
His frustration also extended to Israel's looming election and the prospect of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remaining in power.
"I'm afraid we are going to see Bibi Netanyahu in the Prime Minister's chair again, and that's it, we gotta live with it, but this is the truth. This is what I see on the social networks, but I hope I'm wrong," he added.
Avi Shamriz, whose son Alon escaped Hamas captivity only to be mistakenly killed by Israeli soldiers in Gaza, said the ceremony should rise above Israel's political divisions.
"We are proud of our son, who decided to put together this ceremony. Yonatan Shamriz is organising this ceremony. This is a ceremony that needs to unite the entire people of Israel, without exception. There is no right, no left; there is only bereavement, and we want to respect everyone's families," he said.
The ceremony was organised by families who lost their loved ones during the October 7 attack and held separately from Israel's official state commemorations at Mount Herzl on Monday.
The anniversary falls less than three weeks before Israel's October 27 parliamentary election, the first since the attack. Netanyahu faces a strong challenge from former military chief Gadi Eisenkot, with recent polls showing neither the prime minister's bloc nor his opponents assured of the 61 seats needed for a Knesset majority.
About 1,200 people were killed and 251 taken hostage in the Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
Israel responded by launching its military offensive in Gaza. More than 74,000 Palestinians have since been killed, according to Gaza's Health Ministry."

<media:keywords>ruptly</media:keywords>
Lalish comes ALIVE! - Thousands of Yazidis fill sacred temple with prayer, music and dance for Jama Festival

Lalish comes ALIVE! - Thousands of Yazidis fill sacred temple with prayer, music and dance for Jama Festival

"Thousands of Yazidis gathered at Lalish Temple in Iraq's Kurdistan Region for Jama, one of the most important festivals in the Yazidi faith.

Footage filmed on Wednesday shows worshippers taking part in religious rituals at the temple, while others sing and dance in traditional dress as families and pilgrims fill the sacred site.

One of the attendees said the week-long gathering draws Yazidis from Iraq and communities across the world.

"This is one of the major holidays in the Yazidi faith, and its ceremonies are held at Lalish Temple over seven days. The festival brings together Yazidis from all over the world, including Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, Germany, Europe, Canada and Australia, as well as Yazidis from Armenia, Georgia and Russia," he said.

For Leila Zebari, who travelled from the Netherlands, the festival was also her first visit to Lalish.

"The place is special because of its beautiful nature, and the festive atmosphere brought back memories of celebrations from the past. It is a special and beautiful day for me, and I wish everyone happiness and peace," she said.

The gathering is centred on Lalish, the holiest site in the Yazidi faith and home to the tomb of Sheikh Adi, a central religious figure. Jama brings worshippers together for days of prayer, processions, music and other ceremonies.

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi also congratulated Yazidis in Iraq and abroad on Tuesday, wishing the community security, stability and prosperity.

Jama, also known as the Feast of the Assembly, is held over seven days at Lalish each October, drawing pilgrims from across Iraq and the Yazidi diaspora."
